Glenwood Community Centre is part of the Bonivital Baseball Association. Together, we provide each player the opportunity to play baseball in a supportive and rewarding environment that emphasizes fun and skill development at a level that fits the player's interest and ability. In order to play baseball all players will require their own batting helmet and glove. Having their own bat tends to be a preference for U11 and older as is wearing non-metal baseball cleats.
The baseball season starts early May and the regular season wraps up near the end of June (AA & AAA teams finish later in July). For players 11U and older, play-offs will occur after the regular season finishes. We have compiled a list of important baseball dates for each age group and level of play: Bonivital Minor Baseball Association - Winnipeg, Manitoba (bonivitalbaseball.ca)
Tryouts for AAA and AA teams will occur April 7-11, 2025 and as soon as those teams are formed, the Community Club teams A teams will be created. Please see below for age groups, registration fee and nights of play:
*The significant difference in cost for 18U players is due to many of their games being played at Whittier Park which is rented by Bonivital Baseball to host the 18U teams. 18U teams will also practice and play at Maginot Diamond this season.
Programs and Age Groups
-
Rally Cap (7U players born in 2018, 2019 & 2020)
The Rally Cap Program is baseball's initiation program and is designed to enhance players' and coaches' first experience with the game for players 4-7 years old. Teams are typically made up of 6 players. Games are played in various diamonds in the Bonivital catchment. You have a choice when registering to select which nights you would like to play (Monday/Wednesday evenings or Tuesday/Thursday evenings). Games start at 6pm and run 60-90 minutes.

-
Grand Slam (9U players born in 2016 & 2017)
Grand Slam teams are made up of 6 players. Game length is established by time, not by innings. Each game night starts with a 30-minute practice followed by a 60-minute game (typically this is a 3-5 inning game). Some rules are modified in Grand Slam to encourage player development. You have a choice when registering to select which nights you would like to play (Monday/Wednesday evenings or Tuesday/Thursday evenings).
All Grand Slam teams will participate in the Bonivital Jamboree on Saturday June 14, 2025 at Glenwood and Champlain Community Centers. This is a fun-filled day of activities, baseball games, food and celebration.

Formation of “A” Teams
All players must register at their home community centre; however, it does not guarantee that you will play on a team at your community centre. Team formation is based on the number of players in each age group registering at a community centre as well as what size baseball diamonds that community centre has to be able to host an age group. When there are not enough players from a community centre, or there is not a diamond at the community center for the age group to play on, those players will be moved together onto a team at a neighboring community centre.
We allow for players to make two friend requests when registering for baseball. We make all efforts to honor at least one of the friend requests when both players are from the same community center.

Coaches and Parent Volunteers
Coaches are the cornerstone of the sport experience for young players and thus essential for the success of youth sport programs in our community. If you are interested in volunteering as a coach in 2025, please contact our baseball convenor. Ideally, we like to have three coaches willing to volunteer from each team. It makes the practices and games much more active and “many hands definitely make light work”. Training, support and mentorship is offered to coaches to help you and your team have a successful season.
